Join us for an evening with Chieko Shiina, a Fukushima survivor
Cafe Roma -- Tuesday, July 10 at 6:00 P.M. -- $25.00
Dinner reservation needed - only 80 tickets available
Sponsored by Mothers for Peace
We are honored to host Chieko Shiina (photo above), a mother from Fukushima, who will be on a week-long speaking tour of California organized by Steve Zeltzer and Umi Hagitani of Nuke-Free California. They are traveling the coast of California to talk about the disaster at Fukushima.
Mothers for Peace member, Carole Hisasue of Los Osos, will also share her experiences from several trips to Japan since the catastrophe. Carole is in Tokyo now. She writes, "I am from Tokyo, where I worked in radio and television. Moved to SLO in 2006 to find a life of health, sustainability and self-sufficiency. I thought our little ranch was perfect for that (despite Diablo Canyon so close by.) The Fukushima Daiichi disaster kicked me awake. Extended family members in Fukushima Prefecture have suffered the most in the aftermath of the disaster, but the problem is not just a local one. It is worldwide."
Steve Zeltzer has made a documentary film, "Fukushima: Never Again!," which will be available for purchase that evening.

This will be a rare opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from Fukushima. We hope you will plan to join us.
The dinner, including tip, is $25 -- vegetarian lasagna as only Cafe Roma does it. Salad and dessert will be served, and wine will be available by the glass at a no-host bar. Money earned from the sale of the wine and donations will be used to help with the travel and other expenses.
How to reserve your ticket: Pay by credit card via the Mothers for Peace website, mothersforpeace.org [click the donate button and type in Cafe Roma], or you can mail a check payable to Mothers for Peace to Evy Justesen, 2065 McCollum St, SLO, CA 93405.
Please pay for your ticket by July 1 so we can give Cafe Roma a head count by July 4th.
Cafe Roma is located at 1020 Railroad Ave., SLO --- across from the Amtrak station.
