The prize-winning documentary film, ORIGINAL CHILD BOMB, will be locally screened in remembrance of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Inspired by Thomas Merton’s poem, ORIGINAL CHILD BOMB shows the human
cost of nuclear weapons. The bombings are depicted through declassified
footage, photographs, drawings and testimonies of mothers, brothers and
soldiers. Ordinary people gaze upon the nuclear past and its terrifying
present. They expose the political rhetoric surrounding "security" and
"weapons of mass destruction". The film is a wake-up call and an
invitation to action.
A series of powerful photographs and drawings showing the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
and the survivors' trauma and physical pains through more than half a
century will be on display. This exhibit was sent by the Japanese
Confederation of A- and H-
Bomb Sufferers Organizations "in order to help arouse world public opinion for the elimination of nuclear weapons."
The event is sponsored by WILPF and HopeDance FiLMs (www.hopedance.org). For more information visit the website www.originalchildbomb.com
