Transforming Local Democracy
Jim Rough, founder, The Center for Wise Democratic Processes; author, Society’s Breakthrough.
This workshop introduces a new large-system transformation process, the Wisdom Council, and describes the experiment that is underway in Port Townsend, WA. The Wisdom Council generates a town-wide dialogue. It shifts the system to approximate a true democracy, where the people provide responsible leadership to the city council. It presents a unique approach to facilitating meetings aimed at establishing transformational conversations that generate real consensus.
