PasoWatch, Inc. is a community-based, nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational and
activist organization committed to sustainable development in and around the
City of Paso Robles.
We seek to preserve clean air and water, native habitats and open space with
an emphasis on enhancing our rural atmosphere.
PasoWatch formed because we understand clearly that growth demands oversight.
In recent years the Paso Robles area has experienced rapid growth, and
indications are strong that this will continue and accelerate. Unchecked, such
growth will be accompanied by urban sprawl, traffic congestion, air and water
pollution and destruction of the natural beauty of our unique home. Citizen
involvement is essential. New developments already poised to take root in our
community involve widespread cutting of mature trees, excessive hillside grading
and increased traffic without adequate official review of the environmental and
economic impact.
PasoWatch offers the opportunity for interested residents to have a larger
voice. believes that organization equals effectiveness. Through a network of
concerned citizens, we hope to keep the public informed of important development
issues affecting the community. We draw upon the talents of our growing
membership to analyze proposals for new developments, attend government hearings
and communicate our findings and to officials and to the community at large.
As a community service, PasoWatch schedules speakers that address the issues
of our community. Recent speakers have included Pat Veesart, Attorney Steven
Crandall, and Larry Santoyo. PasoWatch meets monthly on the third Wednesday.
